Catalan Government to boost deep tech projects

In Catalan it’s called “Fons d’Inversiò en Tecnologia Avançada”, Advanced Technology Investment fund. It’s an investment fund dedicated to the deep tech industry for projects that aim to become innovative and disruptive spin-offs among the R&D department of Catalan Universities. Every transfer project of scientific-based transfer, technology and engineering being at an initial stage will benefit of up to 55 million €.

It is a clear example of cooperation among local governments, which will allocate 30 million €, the European Union that will allocate another 15 million and the private venture capitalist Growth Venture Partners who will allocate the remaining 10.

The goal of this public-private cooperation is the nurturing of projects that are still at their first stages and must be a bridge between Universities, Research Centres and entrepreneurial projects with both national, European and international funds. There are many industries that can apply for this programme: AI, robotics, quantics, semiconductors, batteries, clean energy and sustainable materials. Companies can stay in this project for 5 up to 7 years. Funds will be available until 2029.
